Blast Cleaning and Powder Coating
Blast Cleaning and Powder Coating in Austin, TX
The Blast Cleaning and Powder Coating Process
Both Blast cleaning and powder coating are associated process developed prior to accomplish powder coating finishing solutions. Either one is given to any kind of metal capable of resisting 375 or 400 degrees Fahrenheit curing oven temperature; during 15, 20, 30 or 60 minutes periods of time. When a metal part needs powder coating to any color, the first step of the whole process is to remove product's impurities and that involve deep cleaning with the specific media. Blast cleaning practically mean "deep through cleaning." Specific media is required for the type of metal surface we have to clean. The blast cleaning should be down enough to expose the part's bare metal where the painting is going to be applied further. The final results is total removal of cured paints, stain, rust, oil, grease or oxide that affects the surface visual quality finishing of the metal. If powder coating or paint is applied without this process, the customer may expect a poor quality job and sooner will return with finishing complaints. See a few examples of the blast cleaning we usually do before powder coating to any kind of metal. See this case below. Photo on left at 20 inches from surface. Photo on right at 10 inch from surface. This is what we mean by bare metal surface exposure.
Blast Cleaning Mean: Bare Metal Surface Exposure
As it was mentioned above...Blast cleaning down enough to expose the part's bare metal where the painting is going to be applied further. See this case below. Photo on left at 5 inches from surface. Photo on right at 1 inch from surface. This is what we mean by bare metal surface exposure.
Blast Cleaning and Then, Only Then Powder Coating
As I said previously blast cleaning, sandblasting and powder coating are tied together. You can paint by powder coating any part previously painted with powder or liquid painting. But be certain there is a limit between them. If you powder coat a previously liquid painted surface - you can do what ever necessary to evolve but be sure that after the final top applied and the curing heath required "something weird will comes out." You may expect a lot of errors and quality mistakes.
Blast Cleaning and Powder Coating Quality
Independent of the quality details you won't reach over the final surface finishing the problem is...the time consumed and the gas or electricity expended during the process. This type of errors are costly. It is important to understand that in order for the powder coating color finishing application to be perfect a deep or blast cleaning is a must. If you are interested to keep your customer satisfied with the results he expect... don't do idiotic procedures. A green operation, keeping a clean environment during media blasting, sandblasting and powder coating!
