It is not difficult, our experience have taught us that we need to cure the aluminum parts twice. We have to take them out of oven and not allowing to cool down before applying the top coating.

If we allow it to cool down then the chrome finish will look more like a glossy Grey rather than a chrome reflective surface.

So, in order to reproduce the real chrome finishing with reflective surface we let the aluminum parts reach the full cure inside the oven.

Too Worried About Powder Coat Chrome Reflectivity?

Don't need to! What you have to do is effectively clean your parts. And that means all.

If they’re dirty, you must first clean the part with a professional degrease. That's the only way you will remove grease, dirt or collected foreign agents or flying dust.

Then fully wash off with phosphate solution water. Then and only then rinse off water.

Let it dry on a closed environment or, if you have a patio and lot of sunshine, let the hot sun and wind do their natural work.

Don't forget to strip off any flakes or sharp edges. Scuff evenly with red or green scotch brite. Everything must be as smooth as you can develop by good filing with at least 120-grit wet/dry sandpaper.

You have to do it in order to give the powder something to adhere on a molecular level when it cures.

Go over masking appropriately protecting those areas you don't want the chrome powder coating covering.

How To Heating For Chrome Powder Coating

Chroming is another beast. Practically mean adding material to underneath substrate. It could be aluminum, alloy, or steel.

If the chrome is chipped then chances are that the initial preparation of the steel and/or aluminum was not done properly to begin with and anything you put over the chrome will come off in time.
